Sorry it's been a month... busy times, busy times...

Ok... so we've been really bad. It's been a whole month and it's been really busy around here. Carly has a new cousin... in case you don't know... the link on the right that says "Ofies Place" is Cassidy Gerken's blog. She was born just a few days after our last update. Since then, we've been down to see them in Dekalb. Carly really liked the baby.



Across the street from Aunt Megan and Uncle Brian's new house is a cool little park. When we went to meet Cassidy, we also checked out the park.



Carly is really starting to like the park. Now if we walk there with the stroller, she starts clapping as soon as she sees it. She loves the swings and likes to climb around on the playground stuff and is starting to really like slides too. Still not fond of the end of the ride.. but to watch her go down is fun. It starts out with a smile, followed quickly by sheer panic and terror as she realizes she has no control... then for a brief moment, it's fun again, she smiles... then BOOM... on her butt off the end and it's not fun again. We're working through it... practice makes perfect!

Of course... she never liked our swing and never spent more than 15 minutes in it, but felt compelled to try out Cassidy's, and climbed in and out of it multiple times all on her own.



We tried out pig tails... she's very cute with them... this was not a good moment. Currently though, it's the only picture we have of them in. She won't leave them in. She won't leave barrettes in. In fact... she was looking at a picture of herself on the wall here at the house where she had a barrette in here hair, and she started patting her head trying to find it. We tried to tell her it was a picture and not a mirror... but currently those are bigger words than are understood, I'm sure.



Just the other night... couldn't resist taking this picture. Carly goes to bed pretty well on her own... we lay her down, she plays a little until she falls asleep. We go in and re-tuck her in before we turn in... occasionally she manages things like this.





We've been playing in the backyard log cabin a lot this summer too... she really likes it. Age 2 and up... my foot....





Huh... found my belly button!



Carly has also taken to getting the blankets out of this storage cabinet in the living room and climbs in there and closes the door.



Some of the greatest fun on earth!!



Hrmmm... toys... are you in there?



Carly also has developed a real fondness for ice cream. We started slowly with some DQ softserve which she really enjoys. Lately we've even gotten her these little baby cones here at home.
