The dress and some halloween fun

Carly has really shown an interest in the camera. Here is her latest....a picture of herself (her favorite subject).
Here is the dress.  Cute right?  (ALL by myself)
Grandpa's new job has a home base in South Dakota so we were lucky enough to have him have a sleep over at our house.  The girls LOVED it!
Halloween costumes.  Of course Carly was a princess.  Molly was a cute little witch but if you ask Carly she will tell you that "Molly is the jealous, jealous, jealous, jealous, jealous, jealous witch"
Far too cute to be jealous.
A beautiful princess.  (yes those are jeans under the dress, but we live in MN so she's lucky the whole thing wasn't under a big unprincess like winter coat).
Spending some quality together time in the tent.

Carly has started dance class and loves it.
.

This isn't a great picture but it's on here because I want you to picture Jason skipping across the living room  with his hands on his hips (because that really happens and it's magical).

Yesterday the weather was fantastic (67 degrees).  We spent the whole day outside.  Jason and the girls even got the Christmas lights out.

I don't know how you guys hang Christmas lights, but if you don't start by measuring your ladder, you are doing it wrong!

Getting ready to be daddy's little helpers.  (final project pictures will be available after Thanksgiving when the lights are turned on).

After an exciting day of putting up lights, the family packed up and went for a drive in the local drive thru light display.  The place also has a big light maze.  The girls loved it.  So much in fact, we attempted it three times and completed it twice.
Well, that's it for now.  The holiday season is approaching, and we'll be seeing many of you in the coming weeks.  See you soon!!

Gramma needs a pick me up and it's been way too long!

Well as usual it has been a LONG time since we've updated the blog, but I'm betting that right about now Gramma could really use a pick me up! So here you go, a very condensed version of our last 3 months.

We enjoyed a couple of the local county fairs this summer.  Carly is really starting to enjoy the rides

and everybody loves the healthy food options the fair offers!

Speaking of food, is there anything better than letting animals eat 25 cents worth of food right out of your hand?

Sometimes the girls like to join us in our bed, but they usually get to sleep in a bit later than we do.

This summer Gramma and Bakka brought up several trees (that they got for a steal at one of uncle Andrew's auctions) for our back yard.  Of course Carly was a huge help with her purse, blanket cow and fancy Nancy dress.

Just hanging out on the deck.

What a nice Daddy to get sparklers for his little girls, of course they loved it.
Good thing there are rails on this bed.
Ok.  I know this isn't a great picture and you may be wondering why it made the cut.  Well if you look very closely you will see the bite marks of one of Molly's daycare "friends".  Apparently snack time was not very satisfying that day!
What can I say, the girl likes her sleep.
Several months ago we got rid of the crib and changing table which left poor Molly without a dresser.  We picked this one up at a garage sale.  I am not a good scrap booker so of course there is no "before" photo but you'll have to take my word that this is a HUGE improvement.

We didn't want Carly to feel left out so we painted hers too.  (see previous note regarding lack of "before")

Cute girls modeling there cute shoes.  (Pay no attention to the messy pile of shoes next to them)

Modeling ALL of her jewelry.
Molly getting ready to go for a spin.  She actually prefers to where her glasses that way.
Here's our first trip to the orchard this fall.  They have kittens for the kids to look at and lucky us they were out so we could play with them.  Guess who wants a kitty now?

Riding on the wagon, picking apples and playing with the kitties...that's all a lot of fun, but don't kid yourselves.  We go to the orchard for one thing......caramel apples!

Why not add some M&Ms
One particularly nice weekend, the girls got to have a camp out with Daddy.  Molly was very appreciative.
You can't camp out without a fire and smores.
All tucked in and ready to "rough it" in the tent (and watch movies on Daddy's tablet)
We were home for a baby shower for Andrew and Wendy (they're having twins!) and the girls got to spend some quality time at the cabin and Bakka park.
Molly even got to take a nap there with Emily, although I suspect Molly is the only one who slept (for 4 hours).
Here we are at the big truck event, I swear Molly had a good time.
See?... told you.  Twirling is a good sign.

Am I wrong or does this kid look like she has a future?
Aunt Megan and Cassidy came up for a visit and we made some time for a dance party (costumes optional).
We also headed to the cities so Mommy and Aunt Megan could "run" a 5k.  It was a gorgeous day but not a great race.  If you want a funny story ask one of us about the old guy in jeans that beat us!
The girls also got to run in a race.  Turns out they were the only 3 contestants.

and what do you know.....they all won!

The race was right by the Como zoo so of course we had to check that out after we were done.  (check out Megan's blog for more pics from the zoo)
The girls love to ride/drive the tractor with Daddy. (please note the fairy wings, there is NEVER a reason not to look your best)
Molly likes to "ride" Carly's bike, but she really loves that helmet.

Thank you Isaac for sharing your tractor, we love it even if it is green.

Molly loves to help clean up, let's hope that lasts a long time.

Carly recently got some clothes that her wonderful mother ordered for her online.  Of course she had to try them on when they arrived to make sure they fit.  Of course Molly had to try on Carly's new clothes and since Carly had to take them off, why not put on the Halloween costume.

Ok we are almost caught up to present day! The girls carving pumpkins.
Carly writing down what she'd like her pumpkin to look like.

Yesterday there was a Halloween party at daycare.  Molly threw a royal fit about wearing a costume so she got to where a pumpkin shirt.  Stubborn, but she sure is cute.
Look at these cute girls and oh yeah those cute hats.  Did Mommy make those hats, why yes she did.

If you liked those hats, you'll love the new dress that Mommy made Carly.  Yep that's right Mom made it and yes it IS that big of a deal.  It will be debuted tomorrow at Sunday school with pictures to follow (hopefully not in 3 months), but as a teaser....here is Molly's reaction to seeing THE dress.
